EAGAN, Minn. --(Business Wire)-- Loan schemes. Identify theft. Inflated appraisals. Mortgage Fraud is the fastest growing white-collar crime in the United States. Unfortunately, it's not just hardened criminals that commit mortgage fraud. Despite increased lender attention to fraud prevention, statistics show an increase in lenders filing mortgage fraud suspicious activities reports. The changing real estate market and increased foreclosures have resulted in an unprecedented number of new fraud schemes and new twists on old techniques.

stoolpigeon writes "Head First JavaScript is one of the latest entries in O'Reillys Head First series. Like the other Head First books, it takes a somewhat unique approach in conveying information. The stated intent of the series is to help readers learn and retain material by formatting it in a manner that assists in meeting those goals. This means that the book is full of graphics, exercises and humor. There is also a refreshing note on who will benefit from the book. I've pretty much always thought of these sections in books as entertaining, in that I get to see what new way a publisher has found to say, "Everyone should buy this book!". Head First Javascript actually does a decent job of describing who this book will help, and who it will not help.

I am appalled at the CBC's decision to drop its Radio Orchestra. It defies logic to abolish an orchestra with a 70-year tradition and whose very existence confounds those many countries with radio orchestras who view Canada as a rustic cultural backwater. The annual cost of maintaining the orchestra is just the wages of a couple of CBC mandarins -- or one-sixtieth the cost of the opening ceremonies for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games

PARIS: 'The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra is one of the best American orchestras," said the conductor Paavo Jarvi, "but it's hard to convince people of this." Jarvi himself is hardly an unbiased source, having served as the orchestra's music director for the last seven years. But in that capacity he has a chance to convert new audiences to his view when he leads the orchestra in a 12-concert European tour beginning Friday in Frankfurt.

Karim Wasfi, age 36, arrives driving a white Range Rover and dressed in a blazer, vest and ascot. Sporting aviator shades, his ample form topped by lush black hair, he could be one of the Three Tenors -- or a staunchly civilized orchestra director, which is, in fact, what he is. When orchestra directors go around the streets of Baghdad looking exactly as they should, you know that things are bucking up. Except that Mr. Wasfi has held that post at the Iraq National Symphony Orchestra since 2004, through the darkest of times, and he has always looked like this. We set off at speed out of Mansour toward downtown Baghdad listening to Wagner. "The Ride of the Valkyries" to be precise.
