True to Opera’s embodiment of One Web, the developer tools with Opera Dragonfly will debug Web pages, Widgets and Web applications on any device. Opera Dragonfly is firstly available in Opera 9.5 beta 2. Today’s alpha release will upgrade automatically and includes a JavaScript Debugger, DOM and CSS Inspectors, Error Console and Command Line. To test Opera Dragonfly, download Opera 9.5 beta 2 from www.opera.com/download, launch the browser and go to Tools/Advanced/Developer Tools.

Norway - The new home of the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, the Oslo Opera House took five years to build at an estimated cost of 500 million Euros and the result is a spectacular edifice of Italian white marble with a slanting roof surface that rises directly from beneath the waters of the Oslofjord (Oslo Fjord) in the capital's harbour. Officially opened on Saturday, 12 April 2008 by the Norwegian King Harald during a gala event the Oslo Opera House is the largest single cultural-political initiative in Norway today (38,500sq.m) and the first Opera House in the world where visitors can take a walk on roof.

A Sydney car park has been withdrawn from sale. Mariner Financial received an offer of $A100 million for the Sydney Opera House car park in early 2007. It offered the asset for sale in October 2007, hoping to get a price of $A120 million. On 7 May 2008, it confirmed that the car park would be retained by one of its funds. Challenger Diversified Property Group has assumed management of the Domain car park in Sydney and will improve it. Two other car parks are being marketed by Colliers International

New York City Opera has commissioned American composer Charles Wuorinen to write an opera based on Brokeback Mountain, a love story about two U. S. ranch-hands that won three Oscars when it was turned into a movie. The opera house's spokesman Gerard Mortier said in a statement on Sunday that Wuorinen had accepted an invitation to compose an opera based on Annie Proulx's short story. It is slated to premiere during City Opera's 2013 spring season. "Ever since encountering Annie Proulx's extraordinary story I have wanted to make an opera on it, and it gives me great joy that Gerard Mortier and New York City Opera have given me the opportunity to do so," Wuorinen, 70, said in a statement. Brokeback Mountain is the story of two men who meet and fall in love on the fictional Brokeback Mountain in Wyoming in 1963 with their complex relationship

Anthony Freud, OBE, general director and CEO of Houston Grand Opera, has been elected chairman of the Board of Directors of Opera America, the national service organization for opera. The election took place at the annual Opera America conference 2008 in Denver on June 11th. Freud will serve an initial term of two years and succeeds Charles MacKay, general director of the Opera Theatre of St. Louis.
