It had to happen. Nudity is coming to opera. In recent years, with all the talk from general managers, stage directors and go-for-broke singers about making opera as dramatically visceral an art form as theater, film and modern dance, traditional boundaries of decorum have been broken. Opera productions have increasingly showcased risk-taking and good-looking singers in bold, sexy and explicit productions.

I've been thinking about design and how it impacts popularity. For example, does a website become popular because it's design is similar to other popular sites? I agree with the idea that ease of navigation will impact whether a site will be popular. But does the rest of the design matter? Yes, design matters - I'm not saying that. But one thing I've noticed recently is that many of the more popular websites seem to be very similar in design. Yes, that design is clean and clear and bright (many would call it Web 2.0), but how much of that is because that design is what works best on the Web and how much is because of fads in design. I was reading an article on You the Designer that was addressing the theory (proposed by an article on the New York Times) that Hulu will win over YouTube because it has a better design.

Last week we looked at the complete life of the Sun, birth to death. But stars can be smaller, and stars can get much much larger. And with a change in mass, their lives change too. Let's start the clock again, and see what happens to the smallest stars in the Universe; and what happens to the largest.

Following Opera Software's earlier announcement, to work with T-Mobile on their Widgets for web'n'walk, Opera today announced the launch Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta 2 which introduces Opera Widgets to the public, enabling one-click Web content access. The Verizon Wireless-Alltel acquisition has caused the FCC to review other carriers and it has found that Deutsche Telekom is violating U.S. law by owning too much of T-Mobile USA. Deutsche Telekom owns 30% of T-Mobile USA, and the legal limit states that foreign entities cannot own more than 20% of an entity controlling a common carrier license. The FCC sent T-Mobile USA a letter asking how it might come into compliance with the law. T-Mobile has 30 days to respond and is considering its options, which could entail some simple paperwork.
