American Teen is a documentary that follows the true lives of four teenagers: a mean girl, a basketball star, an artsy girl and a geek through their senior year at an Indiana high school. I liked the movie, but every once in a while I had to remind myself that for these kids it was real life; they were not actors. They were just high school kids who agreed to be followed on camera. If my nieces and nephews asked me if they should appear in a movie like this, I´d tell them to run for cover. They´d never know what a camera and an enterprising filmmaker might do to achieve cinematic glory at their expense.

According to a recent eSPIN.com survey that asked 635 teen girls about their online habits, "expert content" is still king: compared to their friends' blogs, magazine sites are more fun to read, better-written and more engaging.

chareverie writes "Researchers at Harvard University have been working towards a goal of replacing some types of heart surgery with injections of cells that would grow into blood vessels for damaged hearts. The cells that would be used are progenitor cells obtained from the blood or bone marrow, as opposed to stem cells that are obtained from human embryos. The research team was successful with their tests on growing heart blood vessels in mice. Joyce Bishoff, an associate professor of medicine at Harvard and senior author of the report, says, 'Our next goal down the line is to use them in humans.' She also notes that more studies need to be done on animals to see how these cells would react and behave with other types of tissues. A similar human experiment was done two years ago in Germany, during which a few people from a group of 75 he

GTA IVWhen you read about this stuff it still seems incredulous. Officials in Thailand have banned Grand Theft Auto IV after a teen claimed to have murdered a cab driver after having seen it in the game. Thai newspapers report that the 18 year-old tried to steal the taxi then killed the 54 year-old driver when he fought back. Bangkok Police Capt. Veerarit Pipatansak claims that “he wanted to find out if it was as easy in real life to rob a taxi as it was in the game.” If convicted, the teen could face the death penalty, a high price to pay for a video game
