Meet an Artist Jan Van Dyke Dancer Choreographer: related news

Meet an Artist: Jan Van Dyke, Dancer, Choreographer

(From Dance Teacher Magazine) It's really nice to be recognized for your work. Dance is not a well-known field. It's not a widely accepted form of evening entertainment, especially in this area. You often feel like you're struggling to get some kind of notoriety. So, to have national recognition is wonderful.

Van Gogh and the Colours of the Night

The Van Gogh Museum and The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York are collaborating on Van Gogh and the colours of the night. It is the first exhibition to be dedicated to Vincent van Gogh's representations of the evening and night, a theme which recurs throughout his oeuvre. Celebrated works from international collections will include The starry night (MoMA), Eugene Boch (Musee d'Orsay) and The potato eaters (Van Gogh Museum). Van Gogh and the colours of the night is the first collaborative project between the Van Gogh Museum and MoMA and organized by Joachim Pissarro (Adjunct Curator of MoMA, Bershad Professor of Art History and Director of the Hunter College Galleries) and Sjraar van Heugten (head of Collections of the Van Gogh Museum).

Nov 18, 2008 Amsterdam Museum to Present Van Gogh At Night Exhibit

The first exhibition to focus on Van Gogh’s twilight and nocturnal scenes will be on view in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam from Feb. 13 to June 7. Tickets went on sale on Nov. 15. The show will feature works such as “The Starry Night,” “Eugène Boch” and “The Potato Eaters.” This is the first show to be devoted exclusively to the evening and nighttime scenes by Vincent van Gogh, with the Van Gogh Museum being the only European venue for this unique exhibition concept. Twilight and the night is a prominent theme throughout Van Gogh’s oeuvre. Van Gogh viewed the evening and the night as a time for reflection and creativity, a time particularly suitable for mulling over the day’s events. Visitors from all over the world can buy tickets online for the exhibition Van Gogh and the colors of the night via www.
