Members of the Martha Graham Dance Company will serve as artists in residence at Interlochen Arts Academy this February. The Dance Ensemble of the fine arts boarding high school and one of the most celebrated modern dance companies in America will share the same stage on February 23 at Corson Auditorium on the campus of Interlochen Center for the Arts.

Electronic Arts further extends tender offer for Take-Two

(RTTNews) - Video game maker Electronic Arts Inc. (ERTS) said Monday morning that it has extended its tender offer to acquire all the outstanding common shares of rival Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (TTWO) until June 16, 2008. The extension of the tender offer by the company for the third time comes even as shares of Take-Two trade higher than the offer price and the number of Take-Two shares tendered to the offer has declined. In response to Electronic Arts' announcement, Take-Two said that the recommendation of its board of directors to stockholders not to tender their shares to the offer remains unchanged. Take-Two, the publisher of the "Grand Theft Auto" series, has been resisting the hostile $2 billion buyout.

New organization to promote art, artists

Artists in the area are banding together under an umbrella organization with a four-pronged mandate to improve the stature and economic feasibility of the arts in Dufferin. Headwaters Arts is the offspring — perhaps marriage is a better word — of the Headwaters Arts Festival and the Headwaters Arts Network. The first is an annual event that promotes the arts and the area as a centre for arts, while the second has focussed on developing communication pipelines linking hundreds of artists. Electronic Arts arranges $1 billion to finance Take-Two bid

Electronic Arts, the largest video-game publisher said it arranged $1 billion in loans to help pay for its $2 billion offer to buy Take-Two Interactive Software, publisher of the "Grand Theft" titles. Redwood City-based Electronic Arts received a commitment from Morgan Stanley, BNP Paribas, Bank of Nova Scotia and KeyBank National Association for as much as $1 billion of senior unsecured term loan financing, according to a regulatory filing Friday. Meanwhile, Take-Two said Universal Pictures will make a movie based on "BioShock," the first film to come from the company's library of titles. Gore Verbinski, who made the "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy, will direct the movie, and "Gladiator" writer John Logan is in talks to write the screenplay, the companies said Friday in a statement.

(RTTNews) - Confirming speculation, video game software maker Electronics Arts Inc. (ERTS) said that it has once again extended its tender offer to acquire all the outstanding common shares of rival Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (TTWO) until June 16, 2008. The tender offer was earlier set to expire on May 16, 2008. This is the third time that Electronic Arts has extended its tender offer to acquire Take-Two, the publisher of the "Grand Theft Auto" series, even as that company has resisted the $2 billion buy-out.

Brooklyn Arts Groups Spread Out

BROOKLYN—Two Brooklyn arts organizations, BRIC Arts Media Brooklyn and Urban Glass, will expand within the building they already share, thanks to a $17.3 million makeover paid for by the mayor's office, city council, and office of the Brooklyn borough president, reports the New York Times. The renovation of the Strand Theater on Fulton Street in Fort Greene's BAM Cultural District will provide BRIC Arts, which presents visual and performing arts programs, with a 20,000-square-foot gallery and performance space; Urban Glass, a glassmaking studio and school, will get gallery and retail space and a walk-in workshop. “It’s the first project that is really advancing the goals of indigenous arts groups that are already in the BAM Cultural District,” said Leslie Schultz, executive director of BRIC Arts.

The Arts Club of Washington has selected Jenny Uglow as winner of the second annual National Award for Arts Writing for her title Nature’s Engraver: A Life of Thomas Bewick (Farrar). To help increase access to the arts, “the $15,000 prize is given in recognition of excellence in writing about the arts for a broad audience, and celebrates prose that is lucid, luminous, clear, and inspiring,” the group said. Organizing the arts

A gathering of the arts community in Sackville Tuesday evening will look into developing a New Brunswick arts organization. The idea is to form an English arts association like the French language arts group that's already operating in the province. In fact, the francophone association is one of several advisors to the committee attempting to set up the new arts alliance. It would represent and promote professional and amateur artists from throughout the province. Tuesday evening's meeting is at 6:00 at the Dunn building at Mount Allison University.
