Custom Flame Painting Lay Flames Like A Pro: related news

I've liked flames since I was a little kid growing up in Southern California during the '50s. I can't remember if the first time I ever saw something flamed was in one of my dad's custom car magazines, or on a hot-rod driving down the street. I do remember by the time I was in elementary school I was getting in trouble with my teachers for drawing flames on all of my school papers. When old people used to ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I told them a custom painter. By the time I was 14 I was custom painting all of my friend's bicycles in the neighborhood. By age 17, I had opened up a custom paint shop out of my parent's garage.

A Toronto oil executive has paid $175,000 for a painting of the two lead actors in the TV series The Sopranos posing as the 15th-century duke and duchess of Urbino, the highest price paid for memorabilia from the former HBO show. The painting shows actors James Gandolfini and Edie Falco, who respectively played mob boss Tony Soprano and his wife, Carmela, staring at each other in profile just as the duke and duchess do in Piero della Francesca's original, painted in 1465. The painting, pictured, is the work of fellow Sopranos cast member Federico Castelluccio, who played the hit man Furio Giunta. He came up with the idea during a trip to Florence to see della Francesca's painting. Torontonian Robert Salna bought the painting.

The eternal flame at the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial will no longer be extinguished after July 4, thanks to an individual and business grassroots fundraising campaign. The flame that burns atop the 217-foot Liberty Memorial tower was to be extinguished due to budget cuts unless $45,000 (the annual flame operating costs) in private donations was raised. Pioneer Services, a Kansas City-based company, donated $5,000 to keep the flame lit between Memorial Day and July 4, and offered to match all contributions up to a total of $22,500.

Editor's Note: We recently saw a demo of the new Silver Efex Pro plug-in from Nik Software and left thinking -- why aren't there more professional B&W conversion plug-ins out there like this one? While there are some pretty decent B&W tools in Photoshop itself, we really liked what we saw from Silver Efex Pro, especially that it didn't sacrifice ease-of-use for control. Indeed, Nik's very helpful "U Point" technology is once again used in Silver Efex Pro, giving you many ways to selectively tweak tone and contrast in your images during B&W conversion.

I have installed Google Custom Search on a clients site and it appears to be working properly. The Custom Search account, in the "Statistics" section, shows several queries every day. But in Google Analytics under "Site Search" for any time period it shows zero searches (it shows "0" for all parameters it can measure). I checked in Analytics Settings for the GA account and for "Site Search" it shows "Do Track Site Search". I understand it is necessary to make sure that setting is configured to track Custom Search data, and it appears to be set correctly.
