The Florida Biennial

The Florida Biennial is an exhibition that has grown from a local museum member's exhibit into an important venue for artists across the state. As the Museum of Florida Art continues to expand in scope and reach, the Florida Biennial juried exhibition plays an vital part in this process by providing exhibition opportunities to a variety of artists working in a wide range of mediums. This year over 90 Florida artists provided submissions for jury. 61 artists were chosen. The exhibition runs from June 6 through August 24, 2008. The Florida Biennial IV was juried by Frank Holt, Director of the Mennello Museum of American Art in Orlando, Florida. PENGZHOU, China (AP) - Emergency crews worked Friday to secure 15 sources of radiation buried in the rubble of China's devastating earthquake, the government said as it evacuated thousands of survivors downstream from rivers dammed by landslides.Officials precariously balanced their efforts to clean up and rebuild with attempts to house, feed and treat the displaced and injured and search for survivors.One senior official said China faces "a daunting challenge" to prevent environmental contamination from other sources.There has been no leak of radioactive substances into the environment, Wu Xiaoqing, China's vice minister for environmental protection, told reporters in Beijing.He said 50 sources of radiation were buried by debris from the May 12 earthquake in central China, 35 of which had been secured.

Google to launch mobile phone advertising service in China

Beijing. May 23. INTERFAX-CHINA - Google is to launch a mobile phone advertising service covering mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, local media reported today. John Liu, vice president for greater China sales of Google, announced in Taipei that Google would partner with Taiwan operators Chunghwa Telecom and Far EasTone to deliver the service in Taiwan, Sohu reported. Liu did not reveal which operator Google will work with to provide this service in mainland China.
