DEWITT, N.Y. (AP) - Jennifer Marsh was sick of paying high gas prices and bothered by the abandoned gas station that was an eyesore on the drive to her studio each day. So the aspiring artist and inspired activist came up with an idea - to cover the gas station with a colossal handmade blanket in a way that would bring greater attention to the world's dependency on oil.

"I have a lot of old video game magazines, they're nice for playing 'classic games' because a lot of classics are impossible without the manual, and hard without a magazine (the magazine obviously negates the need for a manual usually). But they'd get damaged with a flatbed scanner, and digital cameras are hard to set up right for capturing old magazines. I know that old documents are digitally archived with very high-res cameras..." So, the question is, what is the best way to capture all the information in old magazines in digital format? Does anyone have a home-built rig taking after the angled-pair-of-scanners setup that Project Gutenburg uses?

Saturday's shuttle mission to the International Space Station can come none too soon for station crew members. A broken toilet has had them using a backup system, and they need a new pump mechanism. The crew of the shuttle Discovery is bringing them one, as well as the largest component of Japan's contribution to the space station, a science laboratory called Kibo, meaning "hope." VOA's Paul Sisco has more on NASA's 26th mission to the International Space Station.
