Art Connection Group's 2008 Art Investment Conference

Call it a case of Art Basel envy. In the weeks leading up to this past March’s Armory Show in New York, RFK scion Christopher Kennedy—that competing fair’s president—seemed determined to restore the art-world Camelot. Or at least the pre-eminent role The Armory Show had in the initial years following its 1999 launch. For 2008’s edition of the Armory bash, there were no less than ten satellite fairs, a bevy of panel discussions, the requisite slate of VIP shindigs, and coordinated events with galleries all across Manhattan—including a series of exhibitions mounted under the collective banner of Design Miami.
