Moblin Enabling Center aims to develop Taiwan as a key center for global mobile computing

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Commissioned by the Department of Industrial Technology of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), the Institute for Information Industry (III) launched the Moblin Enabling Center (MEC) on December 23 in an official ceremony attended by Institute President Ke Jyh-sheng, Department Deputy Director General Wu Ming-ji, and Intel Corporation Taiwan Branch General Manager Jason Chen. The MEC will provide Moblin technology services, in the hope of accelerating domestic development of the latest Mobile Internet Device (MID) and other related services, and developing Taiwan as one of the key centers for global mobile computing.

Philips accuses Taiwan optical disc maker Lead Data of royalty underpayment

Royal Philips Electronics on December 16 charges filed with Taiwan's Intellectual Property Court against Lead Data, a Taiwan-based maker of blank optical discs and a licensee of Philips patents, claiming Lead Data has underestimated its optical disc output in an attempt to pay less royalty fees, according to a Lead Data December 25 filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).
