Local choir holding spring concert

Summit Singers, Jasper’s community choir, is scheduled to hold its annual spring concert on Monday (May 12) in the Jasper United Church starting at 7:30 p.m. The concert, featuring about 20 of Jasper’s finest singers, will feature an eclectic mix of songs including Broadway tunes and music from the Renaissance period. The show marks the end of the season for Summit Singers. The group plans to start up again in September. Admission to next week’s concert is by donation.

Museum opens new exhibits

The Showcase Gallery is featuring some of the works of artists of Lake Edith. The event, running May 4-31, displays works from current artists and some from the past. Artwork from children and grandchildren of the original artists of Lake Edith are also highlighted. An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, May 17 starting at 2 p.m.

Opera House deal falls flat

A Sydney car park has been withdrawn from sale. Mariner Financial received an offer of $A100 million for the Sydney Opera House car park in early 2007. It offered the asset for sale in October 2007, hoping to get a price of $A120 million. On 7 May 2008, it confirmed that the car park would be retained by one of its funds. Challenger Diversified Property Group has assumed management of the Domain car park in Sydney and will improve it. Two other car parks are being marketed by Colliers International
